The Better Process Control School is the canning course required by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) for the low acid food industry (pH> 4.6), which applies heat treatment and packages products.
Thus, canning companies exporting low-acid or acidifying foods must have it.
In addition, FDA inspections of canneries in Spain have recently increased. In fact, Spain is in one of the top positions worldwide, and the United States is one of the main destination countries.
General information about BPCS:
– Attendance at the course is required for any company wishing to export low acid or acidified canned foods to the United States, according to the Code of Federal Regulations (USFDA). In this way, they ensure that the process is effective and that the products are safe.
– At least one person from the company must have attended and passed the course.
– Recently, FDA inspections of industrial canning facilities exporting to the United States have increased to specifically verify that thermal processing processes and food packaging operations are under the supervision of a person who has attended and passed a course accredited by the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).
In general, this type of course is aimed at personnel who manage, supervise or are in charge of heat treatment operations (sterilization/pasteurization); packaging and/or closing of containers, personnel related to aseptic processing or to the manufacture of containers in the canning industries. It is also of interest to consultants or professionals related to the sector.
